Piedmont History

Our beautiful town was founded in 1903 by Dr. E.H. Long. Piedmont is an agricultural market center that originated from the St. Louis, El Reno and Western Railway, which had a line that went from Guthrie to El Reno. In 1924, the railroad shut down, but through the first half of the 20th century, Piedmont remained a small and stable rural community. In the 1950s, Piedmont became known as a commuter town for people who worked in Oklahoma City.
