The City of Fairview

Williamson County, where Fairview is located, was originally carved out as a part of Davidson County. It was established in 1799 and named after Hugh Williamson, a North Carolina politician, physician, and a three-term member of the Continental Congress and signer of the U.S Constitution.1

The area of Fairview was actually inhabited by at least five different Native American cultures and tribes. Some of them were Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaws, Creeks and Shawnees. It was only in 1798 when White Settlers started inhabiting the area. Those white settlers were actually recipients of the Revolutionary War land grants.1

Years passed and the advent of Interstate Highway System and the expansion of Nashville resulted in tremendous growth. Fairview was later incorporated as a municipality in 1959.1
