Organizing-Your-Garage

Oftentimes, a garage can become a kind of dumping grounds for your belongings that do not have a proper home. Items pile up, and bins end up overflowing with things that you may not even want. If you are moving to San Antonio, this is a great time to organize your new garage and the things that will call it home. Your San Antonio relocation specialists know how to get your garage in top shape, so let the organizing begin!

When you are packing for a move, do not just throw the contents of your garage in boxes. Go through everything and get rid things you have not used in a long time. If you have duplicate tools, start a donate pile, because your family does not need four hammers. Check paint to make sure it is fresh, and throw away old cans of bug spray or old bags of fertilizer. After you are done sorting, pack your stuff up in labeled boxes so it is easy to unpack once you are ready in your new home.

Once you are in your new home, get ready to tackle the garage! First, find a home for your big items. That includes things like your lawn mower, WeedWacker, and any kind of motored items your family may have like a jet ski. If you are planning on keeping cars in the garage, make sure you have enough room to park it! You should find a place for your garbage cans and recycling bins at this time too.

You should also make use of your garage walls to make room on the floor. Hang things like bicycles, ladders, beach chairs, and brooms, shovels and other gardening tools. For the latter, simple hooks can do the trick, or you can saw off pieces of PVC pipes nailed to the wall to keep them straight and organized.

Next, it is time to organize your smaller things, like tools. Sort your tools into logical categories so you see what you have in front of you. Then use peg boards to store them vertically either nailed to the wall or under a counter. To store tools like screwdrivers and pliers, drill holes in a piece of wood and hang it on the wall with L-brackets. And for screws and nails, you can use baby food or pickle jars, which will let you store like items together.

There are plenty of other little things you can do to become more organized and make life a little easier. For instance, you can use a paper towel holder to store and hang your garbage bags for easy access. For kids' outdoor toys like basketballs and tennis rackets, you can use a laundry sorter. They can hold a ton of stuff, and most of them have wheels, so the kids can roll it outside when they want to play.

Organizing your garage can be daunting, so take small steps and do one thing at a time so you are not overwhelmed. Once it is clean and organized, you will be so happy with your work...just do not let your family mess it up! Now that is the real challenge!
